The evidence for the oldest three known Walters comes from a variety of old papers / protetation rolls/ land deals, in the Lydford aread (West of Dartmoor) which refer to various Walters as (e.g.) "older" or "younger". As no parish records survive from this long ago, there is no way of knowing who they married
When 6x gt. Walter arranged the marriage of his daughter Ann to William WEEKES (of Chagford East of Dartmoor), the properties involved in the tranaction caused William to move "across the moor", where the WEEKES family remained for 170 years.

Walter and Joan's graves, alongside daughter Ann (WEEKES) and two of her children are still in remarkably good condition in Lydford churchyard
